Towering 3,952 m (12,966 ft) above sea level, Yushan, also known as Jade Mountain, is the highest mountain in Taiwan. With great mountain trail maintenance and less risks of reaching summit, Yushan has been a great choice for people who would like to enjoy magnificent mountain scenery. Half way to the mountain there is an overnight lodging (registration required), Paiyun Lodge, where hikers get to rest and eat before heading off to the summit next morning.
There will be some steep climbs starting hundreds of miles away from the summit, safety is not a concern as those sections of trails are secured with chains to grip, climbers just have to pay attention and slow down their pace on the way up.
